Random Acts of Love often catches laundry patrons off guard by showing up with coffee, donuts, volunteers and plenty of quarters to assist paying for laundry. We first decided to choose laundromats as a place to serve others because we have the opportunity to have conversation with patrons doing their laundry. We have time on our side as individuals wait for the clothes to wash and dry. The coffee station provides a congregating place to talk, hear the stories people share and explain why we are loving others in action.
God has blessed our organization through faithful donors with the funds necessary to serve in laundromats on multiple occasions. We have been able to share the love of God tangibly with people in need and be a listening ear to troubling life stories. Our volunteers have also heard countless stories of God’s faithfulness through trials, stories of redemption and salvation testimonies.
Relationships between volunteers have been strengthened while sharing our own personal stories with each other over coffee, the purr of dryers and the clean smell of laundry in the background.
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18
